01 Community Decoration Day

Each year, (usually one Sunday in June), the Millgrove Cemetery holds a Decoration Day Service. Decoration Day is a time to join together in community, and to remember and celebrate the lives of those that have passed on. It is a time to pause, remember and reflect.
Check the Events Calendar for the date and time of Decoration Day in Millgrove and be sure to bring your lawn chair!

02 Cemetery Services

In addition to keeping the Cemetery in a park like setting, the Millgrove Cemetery Board is ready to serve your family at a moment's notice by providing full committal burials, cremation burials, scattering of ashes and ancestral family tracing. We have recently undertaken a cemetery monument restoration project to restore and straighten headstones to maintain this important history and improve the appearance of the Cemetery.

03 Purchasing Your Resting Place

The Millgrove Cemetery is approved to operate and offer cemetery services under the auspices of The Bereavement Authority of Ontario.

The Cemetery is also a registered charity with the Canadian Revenue Agency. We have the community in mind with all we do.

The Cemetery Board believes it has made it easy to arrange for your final resting place and has done so with affordability in mind.

You can work directly with The Millgrove Cemetery to arrange your resting place and we can point you to other services you may wish or need to utilize - such as transfer services, visitation/funeral services, cremation and monument services.

We have good relationships with all our partners and it would be a pleasure to help you out through the process.

We encourage you to visit our Cemetery, enjoy the ambiance, decide if this is your place, then contact us!

F.A.Q.

Yes and we are guided by the rules of the Cemetery’s Bylaws. While a price preference is given to residents, the Millgrove Cemetery is independent, overseen by volunteers, is not part of any municipality, and all are welcome!

The Cemetery is funded through the sale of plots and scattering rights, interest dollars received through a required registered care and maintenance fund but most importantly –  through donations to the Cemetery. We are a volunteer organization and have been since 1841.

As per Ontario regulations, if a plot has not been used, you are entitled to a full refund within 30 days of purchase. After that, you may sell your plot according to the rules of the Cemetery’s Bylaws that have been approved by the Bereavement Authority of Ontario.

The Millgrove Cemetery is a registered charity under the auspices of the Canadian Revenue Agency. A tax receipt will be issued for donations of $20 or more. The Cemetery is grateful for any and all donations received!

With Scattering Rights purchased from the Cemetery, you may scatter some or all of your ashes in our Scattering Garden. Your name can be entered on the Scattering Garden monument and family and friends can visit there and remember you. An urn can be shipped directly to the Cemetery from near or abroad. Contact us to set the service up  and we’ll follow your wishes. The Scattering Garden is our most economical service offered.

Plots purchased prior to February 28, 2022 are entitled to 4 urns per plot.  Plots purchased after February 28, 2022 are entitled to 2 urns per plot. Irrespective of date, additional rights to add additional urns may be purchased to a maximum of 8 urns per plot. This change was made to preserve cemetery land, keep the Cemetery solvent and provide a more economical way to address the cost of burials.

Yes! The Millgrove Cemetery allows 1 full burial per plot. As plot owner, you may make your wishes known to allow for the interment of urns above the full burial as per the Cemetery Bylaws. If an urn is already interred there, there would be a disinterment/interment fee to disposition the full burial and respectfully return the urn to it’s resting place. The Cemetery would appreciate those who already own plots to make their wishes known to the Cemetery whether to allow or not allow future urn interments on their plots.

You may contact the Chair – Becky.Galer@MillgroveCemetery.ca, the Secretary/Treasurer & Manager Ron.Service@Millgrove Cemetery.ca 289-769-9433 or use the contact page on this site to reach us. We would love to hear from you and we’ll get back to you quickly.
